Russian Blue
Quiet, elegant, often well-tolerated by allergy sufferers. Long-lived and undemanding.
The Russian Blue likely originates in the port of Arkhangelsk in northern Russia. They're known for their dense double-blue coat, vivid green eyes and reputation among allergy sufferers β they produce less Fel d 1 than most cats and are tolerated by many (not all) sensitive people.
Temperament
Quiet, gentle, reserved with strangers, deeply loyal to family. Russian Blues bond closely with one or two people and dislike change in routine.
Exercise needs
Moderate. Like routine play sessions and food puzzles.
Grooming
Short, dense double coat. Weekly brushing is enough.
Common health issues
Generally one of the healthiest and longest-lived breeds (often 17+). Watch for: bladder stones, obesity (they're food-motivated and not very active).
