The Siamese is one of the oldest cat breeds, depicted in Thai manuscripts from the 14th century and brought to the West in the late 1800s. Famously vocal, intelligent and affectionate, the Siamese forms intense bonds with its people and is one of the most "interactive" cat breeds.

Temperament

Vocal, social, intelligent, demanding. Siamese cats want to be involved in everything you do and will tell you about it loudly. They bond closely with one or two people and don't do well alone all day.

Exercise needs

Highly active and play-driven. Need interactive toys, vertical space, food puzzles. Many do well with a feline companion to play with.

Grooming

Short, fine coat. Weekly brushing is plenty.

Common health issues

Generally healthy. Watch for: amyloidosis, asthma, dental disease, glaucoma, eyes (some lines have crossed eyes which is harmless), separation anxiety.

πŸ‘ Best for

Owners who are home a lot, families with older children, multi-cat households.

πŸ‘Ž Not best for

Households that want a quiet cat. Owners who travel often.
