"Best cat toys" depends on your cat's hunt drive, energy and personality. The Birman has a specific profile and the right toys are very different from "anything that moves".
What works for the Birman
- Puzzle feeders + slow-treats. Cats are intelligent; food puzzles double as enrichment + slow eating.
- Cat trees + climbing furniture. Vertical territory matters more than horizontal floor space. Multi-level perches reduce stress in multi-cat homes.
- Cardboard boxes + paper bags. Free, beloved, and replaced weekly when they get destroyed. The Birman doesn't care it cost โฌ0.
- Avoid: string and ribbon left unattended (linear foreign body โ emergency surgery), plastic toys with small breakable parts, anything with elastic loops (strangulation risk).

Rotation rule
Cats habituate fast. Keep 6โ8 toys, rotate weekly โ they "feel new" again. The Birman will lose interest in even the best toy after 5 days of constant access.
