Cats sleep 12โ16 hours a day, but the Burmese is picky about where. The wrong bed is rejected within a week and you've wasted โฌ40. The right bed becomes their favourite spot in the house.
What works for the Burmese
- Enclosed cave or igloo design. The Burmese is a warm-snuggle breed; an open mattress is too exposed. They want walls.
- Multiple beds, multiple rooms. Cats nap in 4-hour rotations and want options. 2โ3 small beds beat one big one.
- Machine-washable cover. Hair, dander, the occasional hairball โ non-removable covers are a 6-month problem.
- Heated bed (winter). A low-watt heating pad under a fleece bed in cold rooms wins instant favourite-spot status.
- Avoid: stiff plastic shells (cats hate the texture) and over-perfumed beds (cats are scent-sensitive).
Recommended bed for Burmese: plush enclosed cave bed (warmth + privacy)
Where to put it
Cats want vantage and warmth. Sunny windowsills, slightly elevated shelves, and quiet corners away from washing machines and front doors. The Burmese will pick the spot themselves โ provide options.
