A middle ground between brushing and giving up
Plenty of pets will accept five seconds of contact and nothing more. A pen lets you use those five seconds well: you put the gel precisely along the gum line, where plaque actually accumulates, instead of smearing it over the tooth surface and hoping.
Why the gum line is the bit that matters

Making it work
Start with the pen nowhere near the mouth. Let them lick a little gel off your finger for a few days, then off the pen tip, then apply it to one or two teeth. Build up. A pet who learns this is not a threat will let you do it for years; a pet who gets pinned down on day one will never let you near again.
Good to know
Same honest limits as any topical dental product: this helps manage new plaque. It does not remove existing tartar and does not treat gum disease — that needs scaling under anaesthetic. If the gums are red, receding or bleeding, or breath has turned genuinely foul, see a vet before starting any home routine.
