Temperament

Affectionate, sensitive, eager to please. Excellent with children + other dogs. Slightly soft — harsh training methods damage them. Strong prey drive for birds.

Exercise

60–90 minutes daily of varied exercise. Loves running, swimming, fetch, scent work.

Grooming

Medium-length flat or wavy coat with light feathering. Brush 2× weekly. Light shedder.

Health

Generally healthy. Watch for: hip dysplasia, epilepsy, hypothyroidism, glaucoma.

Temperament

Cheerful, friendly, eager-to-please, sociable. Springers are excellent with children and other dogs.

Exercise

90+ minutes of daily exercise. They love retrieving, scent work and water.

Grooming

Medium-length coat with feathering. Brush 3× weekly. Long ears need weekly cleaning.

Health

Hip dysplasia. Eye conditions (PRA, retinal dysplasia). Ear infections. Phosphofructokinase deficiency (DNA test). "Rage syndrome" historically, mostly bred out.
