Brussels Griffon
A tiny, characterful Belgian "monkey-faced" toy breed — full of personality and Old World charm.

Bred in Brussels in the 19th century from stable dogs that controlled rats. Famously the breed Jack Nicholson's character bonded with in "As Good As It Gets." Comes in 4 coat types: rough black/red, smooth, etc.
Temperament
Bossy, affectionate, sensitive. Bonds intensely with one or two people. Not patient with rough handling — better for older kids.
Exercise needs
30–45 minutes daily.
Grooming
Rough coats need hand-stripping every 3–4 months + weekly brush. Smooth coats need weekly brush only.
Common health issues
Brachycephalic (BOAS risk), syringomyelia, patellar luxation, eye injuries.
👍 Best for
Adult households or families with older children, retirees, allergy-conscious owners (rough coat).
👎 Not best for
Toddler households, hot climates without AC.
