Bullmastiff
Calm, powerful guardian — bred to apprehend poachers without injuring them.
The Bullmastiff was developed in 19th-century England by gamekeepers crossing Bulldogs and English Mastiffs — the goal being a fast, silent, powerful dog that could pin down poachers without injuring them. Today's Bullmastiff is a calm, devoted family guardian.
Temperament
Calm, devoted, courageous, naturally protective.
Exercise needs
30–45 minutes daily.
Grooming
Short coat, weekly brush. Drool requires towels.
Common health issues
Hip dysplasia. Bloat / GDV. Cardiomyopathy. Cancer (over-represented). Lifespan tragically short — 7–9 years.

Experienced owners, families with older children, secure homes.
👎 Not best for
Hot climates, apartments, first-time owners.
