Iconic shaggy "Dulux dog" sheepdog. Affectionate, family-friendly, high-grooming.
The Old English Sheepdog ("Bobtail") was developed in southwestern England as a drover's dog moving sheep and cattle to market. The shaggy double coat protected against weather; the docked tail was a working tax exemption. Today famously the "Dulux dog" of British advertising.
Temperament
Affectionate, smart, easy-going, sometimes goofy. Excellent with children and other pets.
Exercise needs
60 minutes daily.
Grooming
Massive double coat. Daily brushing if kept long; many opt for a "puppy clip" every 6β8 weeks.
Common health issues
Hip and elbow dysplasia. Cataracts. Hypothyroidism. Cerebellar ataxia (DNA test). Deafness.
