The collar you stop noticing
Leather earns its place on comfort rather than looks. It softens to the shape of the neck instead of staying stiff, it does not fray at the edges the way cut webbing does, and it does not hold the sour smell that damp nylon picks up after a few wet walks.
Why leather over nylon
- Softens with wear — most collars get worse with age; this one gets better.
- Kind to the coat — smooth edges rather than woven ones, so less breakage on the neck fur of long-coated dogs.
- Genuinely odourless, which matters more than it sounds if your dog swims.

Getting the size right
Measure around the base of the neck and choose the size that puts your measurement in the middle of its range, not at either end — you want spare holes in both directions. Two fingers should slide flat underneath. If your dog is between sizes, take the larger.
Good to know
Leather and water are a qualified friendship. An occasional soaking is fine; drying it slowly away from direct heat is what keeps it supple. Do not machine wash it, and do not leave it wet on the dog. If your dog swims most days, nylon genuinely suits them better than leather — buy for the life your dog actually lives.
As with any collar, take it off for unsupervised time, particularly in a crate, where a tag or buckle can catch.
