The Keeshond was the symbol of the Dutch Patriots party in the 1700s and served as a barge dog on Holland's canals. Fluffy double coat, characteristic facial "spectacles" markings, and an exceptionally affable, family-friendly temperament.
Temperament
Friendly, smart, lively, devoted. Excellent with everyone.
Exercise needs
60 minutes daily plus mental work.
Grooming
Heavy double coat. Brush 2–3× weekly, daily during seasonal moults.
Common health issues
Generally healthy. Watch for: hip dysplasia, primary hyperparathyroidism (DNA test), epilepsy, heart conditions.

Families with children, multi-pet homes, first-time owners.
👎 Not best for
Hot climates. Owners who hate brushing.
