Japanese Spitz
A small fluffy white spitz from Japan — looks like a miniature Samoyed, cheerful family companion.
Developed in Japan in the 1920s–30s from imported white German Spitzes. Despite the fluffy white coat, they're surprisingly low-maintenance — the coat is self-cleaning thanks to natural oils that repel dirt.
Temperament
Affectionate, lively, alert. Bonds with family + good with children. Vocal watchdog.
Exercise needs
30–60 minutes daily. Loves play more than long walks.
Grooming
Self-cleaning coat — brush 1–2× weekly. Bathe rarely (oils protect skin + coat).
Common health issues
Generally hardy. Watch for: patellar luxation, eye issues.
👍 Best for
Families with kids, apartment dwellers (with daily walks), allergy-tolerant homes.
👎 Not best for
Owners who shed-hate (heavy seasonal moult).
