Weimaraner
"Grey Ghost" of dogs — striking silver coat and serious working drive.
The Weimaraner was developed in 19th-century Germany by the noblemen of Weimar as an all-purpose gun dog. The distinctive silver-grey coat earned them "Grey Ghost" — once exclusive to the Weimar court. Modern Weimars are devoted family dogs but require an active, experienced home.
Temperament
Affectionate, energetic, alert, demanding. Weimars bond intensely with family and don't do well left alone. They can be reactive with other dogs without socialisation.
Exercise needs
90+ minutes of vigorous daily exercise plus mental work.
Grooming
Short coat, weekly brush.
Common health issues
Bloat / GDV (deep-chested — feed twice daily). Hip dysplasia. Hypertrophic osteodystrophy in puppies. Vaccine reactions (some lines).
👍 Best for
Active experienced owners, runners, hunters, secure-yard homes.
