A distinct breed from the English Springer, the Welsh has been around in Wales for centuries — depicted in tapestries from the 1600s. Slightly smaller, more reserved, and with a unique red-and-white-only colour pattern.

Temperament

Affectionate, loyal, more reserved with strangers than English Springers. Excellent with kids + other dogs.

Exercise needs

60+ minutes daily including swimming if possible. High energy.

Grooming

Medium-length flat coat with feathering — brush 2–3× weekly. Check ears weekly.

Common health issues

Generally hardy. Watch for: hip dysplasia, ear infections, epilepsy, glaucoma.
