Welsh Springer Spaniel
The smaller, redder, calmer cousin of the English Springer — a beautiful red-and-white Welsh gun dog.
A distinct breed from the English Springer, the Welsh has been around in Wales for centuries — depicted in tapestries from the 1600s. Slightly smaller, more reserved, and with a unique red-and-white-only colour pattern.

Affectionate, loyal, more reserved with strangers than English Springers. Excellent with kids + other dogs.
Exercise needs
60+ minutes daily including swimming if possible. High energy.
Grooming
Medium-length flat coat with feathering — brush 2–3× weekly. Check ears weekly.
Common health issues
Generally hardy. Watch for: hip dysplasia, ear infections, epilepsy, glaucoma.
👍 Best for
Active families with garden, those wanting a slightly less full-on spaniel.
👎 Not best for
Apartment dwellers, owners who can't commit to exercise.
