The Wire Fox Terrier was developed in 19th-century England to bolt foxes from earth during fox hunts. Today's Wire Fox is a spirited, intelligent companion with classic terrier drive.
Temperament
Bold, confident, energetic, sometimes feisty with other dogs.
Exercise needs
90 minutes daily plus mental work.
Grooming
Wire double coat. Hand-strip every 8–10 weeks; weekly brush.
Common health issues
Generally hardy. Watch for: cataracts, deafness, Legg-Calvé-Perthes, atopy.
