Lakeland Terrier

Hand-stripped wire-coated terrier originally bred to go to ground after foxes in the rocky English Lake District. Confident, fearless, and full of personality in a small package.
Temperament
Lively, friendly, alert. Bonds deeply with family. Like all terriers, strong prey drive + dog-reactivity if not socialised young.
Exercise needs
45–60 minutes daily. Loves digging + chasing. Mental stimulation essential or they invent their own work.
Grooming
Wire coat: brush weekly + hand-strip every 3–4 months. Very low shed when properly maintained.
Common health issues
Generally hardy. Watch for: Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, lens luxation (eye), hypothyroidism.
